Clonard 10s play with pride – Clonard u10s took part in the annual Micky Laffan tournament on Saturday run by Glynn Barntown GAA club. With almost 20 teams and a few hundred kids involved it was a great experience for players, coaches and parents. The little blues played two competitive games against Faythe Harriers and Glynn Barntown. The team played very well in both games with an effort that was honest and true. The goals was protected by Luke, Shannon and Crann who also had influential runs out the field. Cillian played the sweeper role supported by a defense that included Cormac Deane and Ryan Campbell. Adam Malone, Rory and John Dwyer held the middle third of the field with hard work and craft. Eoin, Kyle, Kieran and Conor gave it their all in the forwards with the Gallagher brothers Cormac and Fionn. Mikey Benson switched between defense and attack and deserves special mention for his bravery getting in where it hurts, Rory topped the scoring charts for the Clonard Óg buachallí with a skillful and powerful display. A special mention goes to all the kids who were lining out for the first time for the club and are just starting out on their journey with club. Training resumes Tuesday and while we are really just starting out on the work that is needed to develop the skills this was a really good day. Clonard Abu. Thank you to Glynn Barntown for their great work in organising the tournament.
