Our under 12 Hurlers were beaten in the penultimate round of the Shield on Wednesday 31 August. Our boys and girls gave a good account of themselves, remember there is no shame for losing, learn from it, and improve after it. Clongeen were our nemesis this year and they did it again in that match, for two thirds of the match we were even, it looked it was going down to the wire. Then a odd bounce of the ball, like a cricket bounce, it ended in our net, that’s life. Everybody shook hands after the match, it was a good contest. We had the enjoyment of these young hurlers of Clonard, win or lose, they made a lot of friends.

Cian caught a ball over his head, like a magician, memories about George O Connor, of yesteryear, and he despatched the ball to the forwards, magic stuff. Killian scored a peach of a goal, Daragh 1 & 2, Adam, Christian, Rory, Ryan, Taofik, Barry, Daniel, Sonja, Killian, James,  Luke aka Little Flash, Jake,  Grace, Jodie, Leon and  Clinton, it was an honour to ‘work’ with you guys, and the future is very bright. Our thanks to Rocco and Martha who supported, they were always there, even though ‘somebody’ ate 2 burgers on the bus.

Our next football match is not fixed, yet, as we have a bye into that final of the Shield.
