Clonard u10s played a strong Our Lady’s Island/St Fintan’s team in Ballymore on Wednesday night. This was the first outing for the Clonard Óg football team and they stood up well to the task. Clonard brought a strong 23 player panel to the game with strong parental support. With a strong panel two games were played with players rotating to ensure every player was playing and getting a chance to develop the skills. With more games ahead including this Fridays game versus St Joseph’s every player is assured of game time and the opportunity to develop in the club. A special mention must be made of the Clonard debutants tonight – Grace, Ella, Orlaith, Jenna and Charlotte. In addition a number of players were making their u10 debut tonight – Josh, Daniel and Logan. The Clonard players demonstrated some excellent skills with kicking, hand passing, the near hand tackle, driving out with the ball and the chest catch all in evidence. While there is much learning to be done the effort and commitment of the players can not be doubted. Clonard Àbu.
