Clonard 8s played against town rivals St Mary’s of Maudlintown on Saturday in a home game in Coolcotts. Clonard and St Mary’s fielded two eleven-aside teams against each other in what were good competitive sporting games. In one of the games the Clonard blues were score for score against the red and white all the way. In the other game St Mary’s started stronger in the first part of the game before Clonard óg got going and matched their rivals. This was an impressive performance by the blues considering their recent emphasis on hurling in the last few weeks and they were playing a football only club. Clonard Abú.
